Karl Kahler is a writer, editor and Spanish-English translator, specializing in travel, history and career advice. He was born in Arkansas, grew up in Venezuela, Mexico, Bolivia, Canada and Alaska, and currently lives in Costa Rica. He is the author of “Frommer’s Costa Rica 2017” and was formerly travel editor of Costa Rica’s Tico Times. Before that, he worked 25 years at California’s San Jose Mercury News, starting as a copy editor and departing as national editor.
